Disney’s 101 Dalmatians was released on January 25, 1961. This is the 18th movie in our Disney New Year’s Resolution. Our family actually watched this movie way back in early May, but I’m just now blogging about it! We had a fun night watching this familiar movie. In fact, 2 years ago we dressed up as Cruella, Horace and a puppy for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
One fun part about watching this movie were the cameos of other Disney characters we spotted in the film! Lady, Tramp, Peg, Bull, and Jock, all from Lady and the Tramp, were found in the midnight bark scene. There are also many “Hidden Mickeys” if you look close enough at all those spots! Lucky also has spots in the shape of a horseshoe on his back.
The Disney Movie’s web site has many different coloring sheets, games, activity pages, and crafts to go along with this movie that would be perfect for a movie night.
The snacks we chose to have were dog bone shaped graham crackers (which were actually “Scooby snacks” but I flipped them over as to not see Scooby’s name!) and “puppy chow” made from Chex cereal. The boys LOVED the puppy chow. It’s a simple recipe for this movie night.
Chex Puppy Chow Snack
9 cup Chex
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Put cereal in large bowl. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour over Chex cereal, put into a large plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake well to coat.
Spread mixture evenly on wax paper and allow to cool.
