Welcome to those of you joining me from Frontierland Station and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Each time I go to Walt Disney World I spend quite a bit of time planning what we will wear. Will we wear matching shirts or matching colors? Will we wear whatever we want? Will we at least wear a shirt with a Disney theme or character? I ask myself all these questions and more!
When the topic “Celebrating America at Disney” was chosen for this month’s loop, I immediately thought about what I would wear to the parks if I were to celebrate America’s birthday at Walt Disney World! My first task was to do a google search. I was able to find more than I thought for my family!

After I was able to find all these great American/ Patriotic items to wear in the parks for July 4th, I decided we should make our own Americana Disney shirts! You can find the directions to tie dye your own Mickey Mouse shirt here. Stay tuned for photos from our July 4th celebration in our matching shirts! 🙂

If you are going to be at Walt Disney World for Independence Day this year, you need to be prepared! The parks will be crowded on July 4th so make sure you do the following:
- Make a plan! All four of the Walt Disney World parks will be very busy. In years past, the parks have reached capacity and guests were turned away. It does not matter if you have dining reservations inside the park or not- once capacity is reached, the parks close. Decide which park you want to visit on Independence Day, arrive early and stay the entire day. Don’t park hop and don’t return to your resort for a swim or a nap. If you do, you may not get back in the park! If you are stayig in a Disney Resort, you are guaranteed entry into one of the parks, but it may not be your park of choice!
- Choose wisely! Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios will have special events and firework shows planned for July 4. You can read more below. If it doesn’t interest you to see a Patriotic spin on the nighttime shows, choose the park that has your favorite attractions.
- Know the park you’ll visit. Crowds will be at their peak. Lines will be long. Fastpasses may run out early in the day. Decide which attractions are a MUST and schedule FastPass+. Know where your favorite shops are located and secure those “must have” souvenirs early in the day. Know where restaurants are for your dining reservations so you don’t waste time wandering the park looking for the restaurant.
- Know when and where the shows, parades and fireworks will happen. Remember, the parks are going to be crowded. That means the shows, parades and fireworks will also be crowded. Secure your “spot” for viewing early in the day no later than 30 (maybe even 45) minutes prior to the event.
These are some of the Patriotic activities from years past you don’t want to miss!
Magic Kingdom- At Magic Kingdom park, you can view a special “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks show followed by the nighttime parade. Don’t miss Goofy, Donald and Pluto leading a procession down Main Street, USA before the afternoon parade! If you choose to visit the Magic Kingdom on July 4th, you must visit the Hall of Presidents, eat at Liberty Tree Tavern and celebrate our past by strolling through Liberty Square! There will also be special America themed treats and merchandise available.
Animal Kingdom– Traditionally, there have been no special 4th of July activities planned for this park.
