my Disney vacation, my Nikon camera, is held up by a red Mickey Mouse camera
strap. How fun to be featured on A Disney Mom’s Thoughts in the “Stars Fell on Alabama Feature.” Last year I
was reading blogs, and now here I am writing for them!
scene, and I arrived there differently than most true bloggers. While my kids
were riding Disney roller coasters, I was standing around taking photos of
buildings and flowers and places that I loved in Disney World. When I looked at
these images, I felt like I was back at Disney again, even if it was only for a
few minutes in my mind. Pictures became a way a way to hold on to that vacation
magic. After collecting these
Disney photos for several years, I thought I had some examples of good
photography that other people might like to see.
took a walk one night, having just looked through some vacation scrap books,
and we talked about me sharing my photos with Disney fans outside our family.
That night last October, I set up a Facebook page, and in trying to spread the
word about the Facebook photos, I started writing for a web site I personally
read every day for Disney information called Chip & Company. A couple of months
later, with tremendous help from Mike at My Dreams of Disney, I
started my blog, mouzekateerz.com, as a platform for more
people to see my photography and read an occasional thought I had on Disney
architecture or snacks. I started
writing each week for Mike’s My Dreams of Disney , so while I didn’t start out to be a writer, I have
suddenly developed into one. Natalie got me involved as a writer with her Meet the Magic and The Disney Moms blogs. I have just recently become “the Photo Diva” for
Kristin at Tips from the Disney Diva . Three months after I talked 16 of my friends into
joining a facebook page featuring my Disney pictures, I now have almost 1,000 Facebook fans and nearly 2,000
people have visited my blog. How
fun is that?! I’m now doing a lot of daily writing, and I’m still taking a lot
of pictures I’d like to share when we make it to Orlando. Every year I tell my students to
get out of their comfort zone and take a risk. Putting my thoughts in writing
and my photography out there for possibly thousands of people to see every day
was my way of taking a big risk. I do
believe every photo has a story.

This has been a busy week trying to get back into the swing of things! School has started back and I’ve been back at work for the first time in almost 2 weeks. It’s nice to get back into a routine, even though I LOVED the time I spent with my family over Christmas.
This past week was pretty busy around A Disney Mom’s Thoughts! Here is a quick recap, in case you missed something.
Sunday, January 1~
Happy New Year! This year, I’m going to spend time trying to revamp my blog. I have started a bit, but still need your help. What suggestions do you have?
The Disney Mom’s Dooney & Bourke giveaway! Have you entered the giveaway? Several of us from “The Disney Moms” have come together to have this awesome giveaway! Don’t forget to enter for your chance to win.
Monday, January 2~
I shared the story of when I met Gaston from Beauty and the Beast for the first time! Have you met this rare villain before?
I also shared a guest post on Cooking with Mickey as I reviewed the Trail’s End Restaurant at Fort Wilderness. Have you had the chance to eat here?
Tuesday, January 3~
On Tuesday, I posted the picture and autograph from when I met Prince Phillip at MNSSHP. He wasn’t my favorite prince, just sayin’.
Wednesday, January 4~
Like every Wednesday, I participated in Deb’s Wordless Wednesday Hop over at Focused on the Magic. The theme for this week was “First Footing” from the Scottish tradition. I added two of my favorite photos of me and Cman at WDW in September taking steps! 🙂
Another Wednesday post was the comparison of the Incredible’s autographs. I have two now- a stamped and signed one. Which do you prefer?
Thursday, January 5~
Since I posted the autographs on Wednesday, I decided to post a funny conversation between Mr. Incredible and me at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! How many kids do you think Mr. Incredible has?
Friday, January 6~
Happy Topsy Turvy Day! Did you know Jan. 6 was Topsy Turvy Day? Check out a video of the song from The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

A few weeks ago I wrote a Disney New Year’s Resolutions post for the Magical Blogorail Green. My #1 Resolution for 2012 is to revamp my blog. I want to make it easier for my readers to read and navigate, and still be fun and “childlike” showing my personality. I wonder if that can be done?
Welcome to those of you joining me from Adventures of a Disney Princess and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.
According to Wikipedia, a “New Year resolution” is a commitment that an individual makes to one or more lasting personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit. So, in thinking about a New Year Resolution: Disney Style, I’ve come up with several things. Maybe they are more along the lines of “to do” rather than resolutions, but oh well! Or are “to dos” resolutions?!
1) Revamp Blog
I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but didn’t know where to start. I’ve slowly taught myself how to make some of the changes I want to make- thanks to several of my blogorail friends, youtube videos and google searches! Hopefully in 2012 I’ll have my blog looking the way I want it to- without having to hire someone to do the changes for me!
2) Learn to use my DSLR camera before my trip(s) to WDW
I’m learning. I have several books on my Christmas list that will help me learn how to shoot in manual mode rather than auto all the time. Again, I’ve learned from my blogorail buddies who are photographers, found some pretty detailed blogs and web sites with tutorials and found some youtube videos to help with shooting in manual mode. I’ve also found some accessories I
need want that will help perfect my skills- a new tripod, a wireless shutter remote, and lens filters. Once I get the “stuff” I need want, and read my books, and search the internet, I’ll be all ready to take the perfect shots while I’m in WDW next year. Then, those pictures will be used to help me with Resolution #1!!
3) Have a Magical Experience with my husband at WDW
My husband and I are taking our first vacation together, sans kids, in almost five years! Guess where we are going?! 😉 Yes, Walt Disney World. We will be going for a week this year and we have a rough plan and dining reservations made. All of our table service restaurants will be new experiences for each of us. My goal, or resolution, for this trip is to slow down and enjoy! I want to have a magical experience with my husband at WDW, not necessarily with Walt Disney World. I hope that makes sense!
4) Continue to make Disney Magic with my son
I try to bring the Disney Magic home as often as I can. My son will be three in January and he is so much fun to be around! This past year we have had a celebration at home for a new princess, a birthday party for Mickey Mouse, we made Hunny Bee cookies to celebrate the new Winnie the Pooh movie, we’ve watched more Disney movies and cartoons than I can even count, we’ve searched for hidden Mickey’s and we have played with “my guys.” My last Disney Resolution is to continue this fun with my son and make new Disney memories with him- without having to go to the parks!
Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Walt Disney World: Not Just For Kids.
1st Stop ~ Pursuing the Magic
In looking back, here was my first post, Welcome, on March 20, 2010. My 100th post was Happy Holidays on November 8, 2010- the day Walt Disney World started their Christmas Season in 2010. I haven’t been tracking my stats the entire time I’ve had my blog, but since I started tracking in June of 2010 the most popular posts have been:
The biggest traffic sources (besides google, twitter, Facebook and networked blogs) have been:
Babes in Disneyland, Disney Bloggers Collection, and Days in the Park. Thanks to each of you for helping promote my blog! 🙂
Thank you too to Beth at Pursuing the Magic and the creator of The Magical Blogorail for taking a chance with me! I’ve loved being a part of our Blogorail family! I think I talk to you guys more than I talk to my own family!!
I’m amazed at the friends I have made thought this blog and this community. Thanks to each of you for reading and for your encouragement, support, ideas and friendship. It’s been a fun ride and I look forward to the next 500 posts!
Have a Magical Day!
