Archives for February 2014
This was an EASY topic for me. Live Performances at Walt Disney World to “Kill, Refurb or Marry.” I started thinking of ALL the live performances such as the Dapper Dans, Piano Player at Casey’s, Voices of Liberty, etc. but decided to go with “shows” instead. It was easier to kill off one of the shows! 😉
Finding Nemo the Musical at Animal Kingdom. While I love Nemo and the costumes and puppetry of this show, it did absolutely nothing for me. I think it has something to do with that theatre because I hated Tarzan Rocks (which we lovingly referred to it as Tarzan Sucks) when it was there. I would have no problem at all Killing Nemo. The show itself was too long and the wait was killer!
FYI- Lights, Motors, Action was a VERY close second to killing. I hate that show, but it’s not really a live performance in my opinion.
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I love this show. I love Belle and Beast. I love the theatre. I love Broadway and this is almost as good as a Broadway show. But it’s been around way too long without any changes. It’s time for an upgrade!
Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom. This show is outstanding! I love the actors, the costumes, the songs, the interaction with the crowd and the message! I cry each time I see it. Not sure why, but I do. I guess it’s something about that Disney Magic! One day I’m going to get my boys in that show!! 🙂 Thank goodness for this show because it helps Animal Kingdom get bonus points since Finding Nemo the Musical is also in this park!
Did you know Hallmark founder, J.C. Hall, and Walt Disney were friends? Hallmark was one of the first companies to license Disney characters. This Valentine’s Day, Hallmark wants to celebrate its relationship with Disney and your love for Disney with a special gift pack of all their new, favorite Disney Valentine’s gifts! They sent me the items to review and are offering the same items to one of my lucky readers!
The next item we were sent to review is the new Hallmark Interactive Story Buddy ($34.99). When Tigger arrived at our house, both of my little boys were thrilled! The toddler just wanted to turn him on and off to listen to him talk! The five year old loved snuggling in my lap to listen to the story- complete with Tigger chiming in with his key phrases! If you get the Tigger and Pooh, they will communicate with each other while you read!
Hallmark also has PLENTY of wonderful Valentine’s Day cards for all your friends and loved ones! You can choose your favorite Disney character to help you say “I Love You” this year! Along with the cards, you can get a Delivery Card Presenter to tuck your message inside. After your valentine removes the card, he or she can keep this little friend to keep little reminders of how much they are loved. Thanks to Hallmark, I don’t have to go out to buy cards for my boys this year! 😉 Mickey, Minnie and Pooh are already here ready to go!
I hope this will give you some ideas of wonderful Hallmark and Disney items to get your Valentines this year! And now, you have a chance to win your own!! Good Luck!

I now have a new favorite Disney World app! Recently I was given the opportunity to review the Notescast Walt Disney World Secrets Gold! app for my iPhone and iPad. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have this app! I spent quite a bit of time looking through all the different secrets and facts and learned so much! There were things I had never heard about, things that were confirmed and things that were debunked for me. I have at least 25 screen shots of secrets and facts I want to remember when we go on our next trip. I’ll eventually have to make a big list to make sure I check them all out this fall.
If you are a new Walt Disney World fan or a veteran, this is a great app. I’m sure you will find some new secrets and learn some new facts while using this app. You will also enjoy the original photos included.
If you want to download this $3.99 app for yourself, please visit iTunes. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
This is one of my favorite attractions at Walt Disney World! Living with the Land is located in Epcot’s Future World. This attraction opened on October 1, 1982, when Epcot first opened to the public. “Living with the Land” is a 14 minute boat ride that explores the agricultural advances in America, the rain forest, and the African desert. On this attraction you will also get to see the latest developments in aquaculture. Aquaculture is the farming of aquatic organisms such as fish and aquatic plants. During the attraction, you will visit several greenhouses and you’ll be able to view alligators, eel and fish in the Aquacell. You will spend time in the Tropics Greenhouse where rice, peanuts, cacao, bananas and sugar cane are grown in a dome. The Temperate Greenhouse looks at science and technology concepts such as sustainable agriculture, intercropping and irrigation systems. The Production Greenhouse grows vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and lettuce that are used in restaurants throughout Epcot. In the Creative House, you will lean about new ways to grow crops- in the air, without soil and in space. As you leave, you will have a better understanding of the way scientists are helping farmers across the world find creative ways to feed generations for years to come.
This ride is great for all ages and sizes. Both of my boys love this ride and enjoy the 14 minutes indoors where we can escape the rain or heat in Orlando! This attraction offers FASTPASS and is wheelchair accessible. If needed, you can utilize Rider Swap.
There is also a one hour “Behind the Seeds” tour you can take for an additional cost. In this tour, you can walk through the greenhouses and labs, discover the crops and see the techniques used in the attraction. Tours are led by men and women who work with the Epcot Science Team. Children are welcome and strollers are provided for small ones. The cost is $18 for adults and $14 for children ages 3-9. Reservations can be made up to a year in advance or you can sign up near “Soarin’” downstairs at the Land Pavilion the day of the tour (if space is available). Pictures and video are allowed during the tour.
- Lines for Living with the Land will start to get longer around midmorning and usually don’t lighten up until later in the day. Visit this attraction early in the morning or after dark.
- This attraction is wheelchair accessible as they have boats that will accommodate wheelchairs. ECV users must transfer to a wheelchair to ride. See what Melissa from Disney on Wheels shares about this attraction.
- This attraction is great for all ages! It’s perfect for families with young children, however strollers are not allowed on the ride.
- After you leave this attraction, visit The Garden Grill or Sunshine Seasons where the food grown inside Living with the Land is served!
